Gender & Education

In Julia Wood's Gendered Lives, she writes about an issue in education today: single-sex education. The idea of single-sex education is that boys and girls in grade school should be seperated in different schools to focus on individual needs of each sex. There are both advantages and disadvantages to single sex education. However, there are some unresolved issues on this topic, such as intersexed, questioning, or transgendered children.
In my own college classes, I don't see any type of sexual discrimination that goes on in my classes. In a couple of my classes, we do have many more females than males in the class and if anything, my professors make sre that their voices are heard as well, because they tend to be quieter in those classes. Overall, I do feel like girls are at an advantage in school. Like I mentioned in class, I never noticed that boys were at a disadvantage because as a female, I have always been at an advantage.
